Sector 3 is one of the six administrative sectors of Bucharest rather than a separate city, covering the area east of the centre. It includes part of the historic old town at its western edge and extends into large socialist-era housing districts further out.
The old town streets at the sector's western edge hold much of Bucharest's nightlife and its surviving older architecture. The enormous parliament building and the main museums lie just beyond in the neighbouring sector, and the parks in the eastern part of the sector are the local green space.
Metro lines and trams cross the sector and connect it to the rest of the city. The old town is walkable, while the outer housing districts are spread out and rely on public transport.
Late spring and early autumn are the most comfortable. Summers on the Wallachian plain are hot and dusty, and winters are cold with periods of snow.
