Privacy & cookies
Exactly what we collect, what we deliberately don't, and how to change your mind.
The short version
You can use this site without an account, without agreeing to anything, and without being individually identified. The page-view counting we rely on day to day uses no cookie and no per-visitor identifier at all — everything beyond that is optional, and you can switch it off at any time.
What we always collect
We measure requests on our server, including requests served from its page cache. For traffic analysis and protection against bots and scraping, we retain IP addresses, requested page paths, request counts, timestamps, response statuses and coarse device/country categories for 30 days. Keyed IP hashes support unique-IP counts. Administrators can inspect IP activity and block an address for up to 30 days. Aggregate counts without IP addresses are retained until explicitly deleted. This system sends no browser analytics events and creates no analytics cookies or local visitor identifiers. Query strings and full user-agent strings are not stored. Offline views and pages served without contacting our server are not measured. Detailed records remain in the database for 30 days, then are exported to compressed private archive files before database removal. Archive files, including IP records, remain until the operator deletes them. Daily and monthly totals without IP addresses remain in the database.
Our web server keeps short-lived request logs for security and debugging, as essentially every web server does.
Cookies and local storage
Strictly necessary always on
These make the site work and are exempt from consent, because they only ever exist because you asked for the thing that needs them.
- Session cookie — set when you use sign-in or a protected form, to maintain your session and prevent forged submissions.
- CSRF token — stops someone else's website submitting a form as you.
- Your display preferences — light/dark theme and the 12- or 24-hour clock choice. These are kept in your browser's local storage and never sent to us.
- Your cookie choice — so we stop asking. Also local storage, also never sent to us.
Analytics optional
Google Analytics, when configured, helps us understand which pages and tools are used. We ask before optional analytics or advertising runs, in every country. You can accept, reject or customize your choice, and change it below.

Changing your mind
Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and takes effect immediately.
The same link sits in the footer of every page. Clearing your browser's site data also resets your choice, and we will ask again next time.
Your rights
You can contact us about access, correction, deletion or objection concerning your personal data, including IP records. Server traffic measurement and security records are separate from optional third-party analytics and advertising.
Write to [email protected].
You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, the consent banner will ask again rather than carrying an old answer forward.
