The Wanfenglin, a plain of ten thousand karst peaks rising from farmland, is among the most striking landscapes in China and is best seen from the ridge road above it in early morning mist. The Maling river gorge with its waterfalls and cliff-side walkway is the other main attraction.
Buses and taxis cover the town, and reaching the peak forest and the gorge requires a taxi or hired car. High-speed rail and an airport connect toward Guiyang and Kunming.
Spring and autumn are much the most comfortable, and the rice terraces among the peaks are at their best in these seasons. Summers are hot and wet, and winters are cool and often misty.
