Tanzhou is a town within Zhongshan in the Pearl River Delta of Guangdong, part of the dense manufacturing belt between Guangzhou and Macau. It is industrial and residential rather than a visitor destination, laid out on flat delta land threaded with waterways.
There are no significant attractions in the town itself, whose character is delta industry and market gardening. Zhongshan's centre, associated with Sun Yat-sen, is nearby, and Macau and Guangzhou are both within easy reach for a fuller day.
Buses and inexpensive taxis cover local distances, and the delta's expressway and bridge network makes driving the usual choice. High-speed rail connections from Zhongshan reach across the delta quickly.
