Ramiros is a coastal area southwest of central Luanda in Angola, within the capital's expanding urban region rather than a separate city. It is known chiefly for its beach, which is a weekend destination for city residents.
The beach is the area's main feature, backed by cliffs and less developed than the strips closer to the city. Luanda's colonial fortress, its museums and the long Marginal promenade are north in the centre, and the Miradouro da Lua viewpoint over eroded cliffs lies further south along the coast.
Taxis and shared minibuses cover the coast road, and a car is helpful given the distances. Traffic in Luanda is notoriously heavy and journeys take far longer than distances suggest.
The coastal climate is hot, with a humid rainy season through the southern summer and a cooler, drier and often overcast season mid-year. The drier months are the most settled for the coast.
