This is the same place as Al Qāhirah al Jadīdah, which appears twice in the underlying place data. New Cairo is a planned satellite city east of Cairo on desert plateau, low-density and car-oriented, with gated compounds, universities and shopping developments spread widely.
The city is residential and commercial rather than historic. The new administrative capital is being built further east, and the historic sites of Islamic Cairo, the Egyptian Museum and the pyramids all lie west across the city.
A car is effectively necessary, as the city is designed around driving and distances are large. Buses and ride-hailing connect toward central Cairo, and the journey is long at peak times.
The cooler months from autumn to early spring are much the most comfortable. Summers on the desert plateau are very hot, and spring can bring dusty khamsin winds.
