The container terminals, among the busiest in the world, are the district's defining feature and are best appreciated from the surrounding hills. Hong Kong's central districts, Victoria Peak and the Star Ferry are a short MTR ride away, and the hiking trails of the New Territories start nearby.
The MTR serves the district with quick connections to Kowloon and Hong Kong Island. Buses and minibuses climb to the hillside estates, and the terrain is steep away from the harbour flat.
Autumn is much the most pleasant, dry and mild with clear air. Summers are hot, humid and subject to typhoons, and winters are cool and comfortable.
