Ijebu Ode is a historic Yoruba town in Ogun State, southwest Nigeria, and was the capital of the Ijebu kingdom. The town is arranged around the palace of its traditional ruler and its markets, in forest and farming country between Lagos and Ibadan.
The palace and the town's markets are the focus of local life. The Ojude Oba festival, held annually after Eid, is the town's major event and draws large crowds for its processions of age groups and horsemen in elaborate dress.
Shared taxis and motorcycle taxis are the standard transport, and the centre is walkable in cooler hours. The expressway to Lagos passes nearby and the journey takes a couple of hours depending on traffic.
