Singapore time: a meeting bridge between Europe and Asia
Organize Singapore calls with London, Sydney and international colleagues.
The local clock and calendar zone
Start with the current time in Singapore. The calendar identifier is Asia/Singapore. It represents the location’s time rules, while the clock page shows the current situation. For a later appointment, check the event date rather than treating today’s offset as permanent.
Use Singapore as the explicit reference
If a regional team agrees on “Singapore time,” save the invitation with Asia/Singapore rather than using a participant’s laptop zone. A colleague in Sydney or London may see a different local hour at another point in the year. Review their dated calendar display before changing the master meeting: an overseas seasonal adjustment does not automatically mean that the Singapore appointment should move.
Handovers need an ending time as well
For a handover between Singapore and Europe, communicate both the start and the end of the support window. Converting only the starting hour leaves the other team uncertain about deadlines and response expectations. If a cutoff falls after midnight for one participant, spell out that local date. The event-time guide is useful for turning a short internal message into an invitation that new participants can interpret without background context.
Before you send the invitation
Check the full date, starting time, ending time and organizer’s city. Open the saved event once to confirm its displayed zone. For the underlying distinction between a zone and a numeric offset, read UTC and local time. Keep your calendar software updated and confirm any important schedule change with the organizer.
