Grajaú is a large district in the far south of São Paulo rather than a separate city, on the hills above the Billings reservoir. It is a dense residential area at the edge of the built-up city, with the water and protected forest immediately beyond.
There are no formal visitor attractions in the district itself, which is residential São Paulo at its southern periphery. The Billings reservoir and the Atlantic forest reserves along the city's southern edge are the nearby landscape, and central São Paulo lies well to the north.
Buses and the southern extension of the metro connect toward the centre, and journeys into the city are long. The hilly terrain makes local walking harder than a flat map would suggest.
