Dniprovskyi is a district on the left bank of the Dnipro in Kyiv rather than a separate city. It is largely residential, mixing older low-rise areas with Soviet-era housing estates, and has the river and its islands along its western edge.
There are no major attractions within the district itself. Hydropark, an island recreation area in the river reached by metro, sits on its edge and is where much of Kyiv goes to swim in summer, and the historic centre lies across the river.
A metro line runs through the district and crosses the river to the centre, supplemented by trams and buses. The ground is flat and the riverside paths are good for cycling.
Late spring and early autumn are the mildest and best for the riverside. Summers are warm and the river beaches busy, and winters are cold with snow and short days.
