The riverfront, with views across to Kinshasa on the opposite bank, is a notable feature of the city, best enjoyed during the drier months when conditions are more comfortable for walking. Markets and cultural centers round out a visit.
Shared taxis and minibuses are the common ways to get around, while private or arranged transport offers more comfort and flexibility. Walking is feasible in central areas but less practical for longer distances.
As a Southern Hemisphere city, the dry season from roughly June to September brings cooler, less humid conditions, while the wet season from October to May sees heavier rainfall. Temperatures stay warm throughout the year.
